Economy Class:

  • You can carry one bag not weighing more than 7 kg (15 pounds) if you have an Economy Class ticket.
  • The maximum dimension of the bag is 22x15x8 inches/ 55x38x20 cm (height + length + width)

Premium Economy Class:

  • Passengers travelling in a Premium Economy Class are permitted to carry one bag not weighing more than 10 kg (22 pounds)
  • The bag must be within the allowed size limit of 22x15x8 inches/ 55x38x20 cm.

Business and First Class:

  • If you are a passenger travelling in a Business or First class at Emirates, you can have one carry-on bag and one personal item ( briefcase/garment bag), each weighing not more than 7 kg.
  • The maximum allowed size for the carry-on bag is 55x38x20 cm.
  • The Briefcase should not exceed 45x35x20 cm, and the garment bag should be 20 cm thick when folded.

What is Emirates Checked Baggage Allowance? 

The Emirates baggage allowance for checked baggage varies according to the travel route, distance, and class. You can look at the allowances for Emirates flights to different routes mentioned below.

Emirates Checked Baggage allowance for the flights to and from the Americas, Africa, and flights between the US and Europe-

Economy Class: 

  • You can carry one bag not weighing more than 23 kg if travelling with an Economy Special Fare.
  • For Economy Saver, flex, and Flex Plus, you can have two bags, each weighing not more than 23 kg.
  • The maximum dimension for the bag is 62 linear inches/ 158 cm ( length + width + height )

Premium Economy Class:

  • Passengers in a Premium Economy class can carry two bags, each weighing not more than 23 kg.
  • The maximum dimension for the bag is 62 linear inches/ 158 cm ( length + width + height )

Business and First Class:

Passengers with Business and First Class fare types can have two bags, each weighing up to 32 kg, and the size should be at most 158 linear centimetres.

Emirates checked baggage allowance for all other flights-

Economy Class: 

If you are an Emirates passenger travelling in an Economy class, the baggage size must not exceed 62 linear inches, and you are eligible for the baggage allowance mentioned below.

  • Special: One bag up to 20 kg
  • Saver: One bag up to 25 kg
  • Flex: One bag up to 30 kg
  • Flex Plus: One bag up to 35 kg

Premium Economy Class:

Passengers travelling with a premium economy fare at Emirates are allowed to carry one bag weighing up to 35 kg, and the size must not exceed 300 linear centimetres.

Business Class:

Passengers travelling with a Business class fare at Emirates can carry one bag weighing up to 40 kg, and the size must not exceed 300 linear centimetres.

First Class:

First-class passengers are allowed to carry one bag not weighing more than 50 kg, and the size should be less than 300 linear centimetres.

What are Emirates' Unusual Baggage and Special Allowances?

The Unusual and Special allowances at Emirates include the following:

  • Passengers with disabilities: They are allowed to carry fully collapsible wheelchairs, braces/crutches, portable dialysis machines, etc, for free. Vision and hearing-impaired passengers who rely on assistance dogs can also bring them.
  • Passengers travelling with Infants: Passengers travelling with children under the age of two are allowed to carry a cabin bag up to 5 kg and a checked bag up to 10 kg, not exceeding 55x38x20 cm.
  • Sports Equipment: Passengers are allowed to carry sports equipment, including golf bags, bicycles, ski equipment, etc., at most 118 linear inches (300 cm) in size.
  • Passengers with Pets: If you are a pet parent, you can carry your pet in a cage as checked luggage by paying the appropriate charges ranging between USD 500-800.

What are Emirates Overweight Baggage Fees?

If your bag exceeds the allowed limit for your fare type, you must pay the following charges.

  • You must pay a charge of USD 75 if your bag weighs between 23-32 kg ( 50 - 70 pounds ) for the flights to and from the Americas and Africa.
  • An overweight charge of USD 95 will be applicable for flights to and from Canada.
  • Any bag weighing over 32 kg (70 pounds) will not be accepted as checked baggage.

What are Emirates Excess and Oversize Baggage Fees?

If you are travelling with the allowed number of baggage, but it exceeds the total size limits, you are required to pay the following charges:

  • You will be charged USD 75 as the oversized charge for flights to and from the Americas and Africa.
  • The charges go up to USD 95 for flights to and from Canada.

What is the Emirates Baggage Policy for Delayed or Damaged Baggage?

You can claim compensation for Delayed or Damaged bags at Emirates by filling out a Form available on the Contacts page of their website. You are entitled to an amount of USD 675 for lost baggage which can be increased if you claim a higher amount. In case your luggage is delayed, you will get an amount of USD 50 for the first five days, which will be settled from the final agreed amount.
